The Toa Nuva have lost their elemental energies. Mysterious beings have stolen the symbols of the Toa Nuva from the villages of Mata Nui, and stripped the heroes of Mata Nui of their ice, water, air, earth, and rock powers.

In Mata Nui's darkest moments, the Toa Nuva will take any risk to save their home and their people. Before the struggle is through, the heroes of Mata Nui will have to unleash the energies of a Mask of Power that even the Turaga fear!

The Mask of Light has been discovered! This news rocks all of Mata Nui, for it means the legendary Seventh Toa is coming to save the island. Makuta, master of shadows, will stop at nothing to banish the light from Mata Nui forever.

Now the Toa Nuva find themselves challenged by the "sons" of their greatest foe- creatures so powerful that no Toa, no koro, can stand against them. The stage is set for the final confrontation between light and darkness!

In the time before time, Metru Nui was a city of legends. Under the guidance of Turaga Dume, and protected by the order enforcement squads called Vahki, the island city was a place of learning and contentment. The Matoran who lived there believed that nothing would ever change... that no shadow would ever threaten their peaceful existance... and that no new legends could be born.

They were wrong... very, very wrong!

This mini comic was produced as part of the McDonald's BIONICLE happy meal promotion in September 2001. Here is a story about the 6 villagers and the dangers they meet and overcome. The story takes place during the same time that the Tao are searching for all the masks of power.
